Hey, I'm Ian!
For much of my teens and twenties, I knew God had placed something on my heart. I just didn't know how to hear Him clearly enough to move forward with confidence. Like many believers, I questioned whether I was hearing God's voice or simply my own thoughts. I wanted to follow Him faithfully, but uncertainty often led to hesitation, overthinking, and striving.
Looking back, I can see that God wasn't withholding direction.
He was inviting me into relationship. That journey has shaped everything I teach today. Over the past twenty years, God has allowed me to serve as a missionary, disciple believers across cultures, lead worship, coach leaders, write books, speak to churches and conferences, build businesses, and mentor people around the world. Through every season, one truth has remained constant:
God is still speaking, and His people can learn to recognize His voice.
That conviction became the foundation of True North Coaching.
The Six R's Journey
Revelation
Everything begins with God revealing Himself.
Not simply giving answers, but drawing us deeper into His character, His Word, and His presence. Lasting transformation starts when we see Him more clearly than our circumstances.
Rest
Before we discover our calling, we learn our identity.
We stop striving to earn God's approval and begin living from the finished work of Christ. Rest becomes the place where clarity grows.
Recognize
As we grow in relationship with the Father, we begin recognizing how He is already communicating.
Through Scripture, the Holy Spirit, prayer, journaling, wisdom, and everyday life, we learn to discern His voice with biblical confidence rather than fear or confusion.
Respond
Hearing God was never meant to end with information.
It leads to relationship with Him, understanding His love for you , and ultimately obedience. Whether God is calling you to forgive, serve your family, disciple others, start a ministry, launch a business, write a book, build a course, or simply take the next faithful step, obedience is where faith becomes real.
Remain
Following Jesus isn't a single decision.
It's a lifelong lifestyle. We build daily rhythms of listening, journaling, remembering His faithfulness, and walking with Him so we continue growing instead of drifting. As we build a history of abiding with our Father through Jesus, our confidence rests not in our performance, but in His unchanging character. And that truth sets us free to bring His Kingdom wherever we go.
Reproduce
Everything God does in us is meant to overflow into others. Jesus said, '...so that the world might know and believe' -John 17
Whether you're discipling one person, leading your family, coaching clients, building a community, creating an online course, writing, speaking, or serving your local church, your life becomes an invitation for others to encounter Christ.
My passion is to help Christians hear God with biblical confidence, receive His love without fear, walk in obedience without striving, and faithfully steward their gifts in their callings so they can help the Kingdom advance. Because when you know your True North, you don't have to chase every opportunity. You can confidently follow the One who is already leading the way.

My Journey
I spent much of my teens and twenties knowing I had a message to share but feeling completely unequipped to get that message out. Fast forward to today, I've spoken to crowds of thousands, led intimate workshops, written blogs and books, and appeared on numerous podcasts.
For over a decade, I’ve loved taking the tools I've learned along the way to coach and mentor people online—running groups and courses that have reached individuals around the world. But it was only recently that I realized I could use my skills to help others build successful online coaching or course-based businesses.
My passion is simple: I want to help you turn your knowledge, passion or expertise into a life changing scalable online course in your spare time!

My Story
Born in Riverside, California, I grew up with a deep hunger for the things of God. As a teenager, I moved to Alaska, and it was there that God began awakening something deeper in me—a desire to know Him beyond religion and encounter the reality of His presence. I heard the stories of Scripture, especially the power and intimacy found in the Book of Acts, but I wanted to understand why that kind of faith seemed so distant from everyday life.
That hunger eventually led me toward missions, but not before I spent years pursuing success in business, building teams, and achieving things that looked impressive from the outside. Yet internally, I knew something was missing. I had discovered that success, achievement, and even gifting could never replace intimacy with God.
That realization began a lifelong pursuit of learning to recognize His voice, trust His character, and walk in obedience. Over the past twenty years, I have served as a missionary, disciple-maker, author, speaker, worship leader, coach, and mentor, helping believers around the world move from uncertainty and striving into clarity, confidence, and deeper relationship with God.
Today, I help believers hear God clearly, discern His direction, and faithfully steward the gifts, experiences, and messages He has entrusted to them—so they can live with purpose, walk in their calling, and reproduce what God is doing in their lives.
My World
Married to my bride Carla, and we lived from 1997 - 2015 in Phoenix, AZ. We have 3 boys who God has blessed us so mightily with! They have learned to hear the voice of God in their lives and are learning to respond and receive His love daily. Since 2015 as a family we heard from the Lord to move to Mozambique, Africa where we have continued to walk out our calling as a family.
Together we enjoy home made taco Tuesdays and pizza Fridays, working out, board games, our 3 dogs and making disciples. God has shaped our lives and world and invited us on the wildest adventure we could have ever imagined.
